A wonderful insightful, excellent and thoroughly absorbing article looking at aspects of treatment associated with Hypnotherapy.
It ran with the following headline for its front cover: ‘The Healing Power of Your Mind: Why hypnosis is finally being taken seriously by modern medicine.’ If you haven’t already had a chance to read it then we recommend you obtain a back copy.
Over the course of the next few months we will explore some of the report’s findings – starting with the benefits of hypnosis for weight loss and anxiety related disorders. Next month we will be looking at its effectiveness for pain management.
In precis, the article examined the colossal benefits associated with hypnosis as a treatment for a number of conditions: from pain relief through to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
It noted that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence does recommend hypnotherapy to assist with easing symptomology associated with IBS.
Alongside helping people with IBS, the article also said that hypnosis was beneficial for people suffering with anxiety.
It quoted one study, produced this year by the University of Hartford in Connecticut, which found hypnosis provided greater improvements for people who received it compared to those participants who did not have the treatment.
The report also noted the benefits of using hypnotherapy as part of a treatment to help to increase weight loss.
The findings were based on a meta-analysis, which took place more than 20 years ago, looking at a number of studies which examined different ways people went about losing weight.
The article also provided a summary of how the brain works and the way in which brain elasticity plays a significant role in gaining benefits from hypnotherapy.
These are key areas which hypnotherapy Practitioners have learned from key aspects of training, continued CPD, supervision and, of course, with our continued background reading into the subject.
We look forward to sharing more of the report’s findings with you in the January, in the meantime, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
